Each month, a group of volunteers, with a variety of skills and talents, invites you to bring your items in need of a little work to the Repair Cafe:
Location: The meeting room in the Mission Library. The library staff have been enormously generous and helpful in offering us this permanent space to hold the Repair Cafes.
Dates: The third Saturday of each month, except July and December.
Times: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Cost: There is no charge but small donations are gratefully accepted.
Types of Repair available: This can vary slightly from month to month depending on the availability of volunteers but in general includes:
-
- Small appliances – Lamps, coffee machines, vacuum cleaners, fans, etc.
- Electronics – Laptops, tablets, phones.
- 3D Printing.
- Sewing.
- Darning.
- Knitting assistance.
- Pottery repair.
- Paperback book repair.
- Bicycle repair.
- Tool sharpening.
- Guitar stringing.
- Small jewellery repairs.
- Our volunteers are a creative bunch so will try to help with any problems you have.
If you add your name to the mailing list (on the right), we will let you know what repairs are available a couple of days before each session.
Curious? Don’t have anything to repair right now but curious? Drop in for a visit – we’d love to see you!
Do you have skills to volunteer? Are you good at fixing things? Would you be willing to volunteer one Saturday a month to help out community members? We are always looking for volunteers. Send us an email to let us know what you can do.
Occasional Special Repair Cafes: Occasionally, we participate in other community events by holding a special Repair Cafe – e.g. at the annual Green Living Event on Earth Day.
